Gateway Area Humane Society, formerly known as The Montgomery County Humane Society, Inc., was established on February 2, 1982. As a non-profit organization, we operate without paid staff, relying entirely on our dedicated volunteers. We are not a public animal shelter and do not offer animal control services.
Our primary focus is to provide low-cost spay & neuter services and to find responsible homes for rescued pets on a small scale. We take this responsibility seriously, recognizing that we are the animals’ only voices and must get it right the first time.
Mission Statement: Gateway Area Humane Society is committed to providing lower-cost solutions to the overpopulation of cats and dogs. Preventing cruelty, mistreatment, and abuse of animals. To provide temporary shelter to unwanted, stray, and homeless animals. To educate the public about the needs of animals.
